GENERAL INFORMATION
The Florida International University Drumline is an integral part of the FIU Marching Band and serves as a rhythmic and visual driving force for performances across campus and throughout the South Florida community. Open to students of all majors, the FIU Drumline provides an opportunity for percussionists to perform at a high level while representing one of the most dynamic and diverse universities in the country.

The 2025 FIU Drumline focuses on building a strong foundation in performance excellence, ensemble cohesion, and student leadership. With an emphasis on musical clarity, physical performance, and stylistic versatility, the drumline performs a wide range of repertoire—from traditional cadences to contemporary hybrid material—both in the stands and on the field.
​
Students accepted into the line can expect a fast-paced and focused rehearsal environment, with regular technique sessions, music rehearsals, and full ensemble integration. The drumline performs at all home football games, university events, and select exhibitions throughout the season.
FIU provides students with quality percussion equipment and instruction led by an experienced staff dedicated to student growth and musical development. Auditions are typically held during the summer months, and prospective members are encouraged to review the audition materials and reach out with any questions regarding the process.

IMPORTANT DATES
AUDITION #1
JULY 26TH, 2025 | 11AM-4PM
Audition 1 will take place in person, with a video submission option available for those unable to attend.
Participants will be evaluated on core technique and ensemble material, with all required exercises outlined in the 2025 audition packet.
AUDITION CALLBACK #1 (Invite Only)
AUGUST 9TH, 2025 | 11AM-4PM
​Callback 1 is an in-person audition for selected individuals based on their initial performance in Audition 1. This round will focus on ensemble integration, musical consistency, and visual performance within a group setting. Candidates should come prepared to revisit material from the first audition, as well as additional ensemble-based exercises introduced at the callback. Final decisions regarding placement and continued consideration for the 2025 FIU Drumline will be made following this round. Specific details, including location and schedule, will be sent directly to those invited.

AUDITION CALLBACK #2
AUGUST 16TH, 2025 | 11AM-4PM
Callback 2 is the final phase of the audition process and will include a focused evaluation of ensemble chemistry, role-specific responsibilities, and performance under rehearsal conditions. This round is by invitation only and will involve full-section work, marching integration, and continued refinement of the audition material. Final line placements for the 2025 FIU Drumline will be determined based on overall preparedness, consistency, adaptability, and contribution to the ensemble dynamic. Details regarding time, location, and required materials will be communicated directly to those advancing to this round.
MARCHING BAND ORIENTATION
AUGUST 17TH, 2025 | 1-6PM
All members of the 2025 FIU Marching Band, including drumline and front ensemble, are required to attend Marching Band Orientation. This session will be led by the FIU Marching Band Director along with key support staff, and will cover important information regarding the season schedule, rehearsal expectations, performance standards, and university policies. Orientation also provides an opportunity for members to meet leadership, ask questions, and begin building the team culture that defines the FIU Marching Band experience. Attendance is essential to ensure a smooth and successful start to the season. Specific dates, times, and materials to bring will be announced in advance.
BAND CAMP
AUGUST 18TH - 23RD | 8AM-8:30PM
Band Camp marks the official start of the 2025 FIU Marching Band season and is mandatory for all members, including the drumline and front ensemble. This intensive multi-day camp is designed to establish the musical and visual foundation for the upcoming season through focused rehearsals, sectionals, and full ensemble blocks. Students will learn drill for the first show, solidify technique, and begin developing the performance chemistry that drives the FIU game day experience. Camp will also include team-building activities, leadership sessions, and time to acclimate to the ensemble’s expectations and pace. Specific dates, schedules, and required materials will be provided ahead of time—members should arrive prepared, energized, and ready to work.
FIRST FOOTBALL GAME
AUGUST 29TH, 2025 | 7PM KICK-OFF
The 2025 FIU Marching Band’s first performance of the season will take place at Pitbull Stadium as the Panthers take on Bethune-Cookman. This home opener marks the debut of the full ensemble on the field and in the stands, featuring our first halftime show, pregame traditions, and in-game entertainment.
REGULAR REHEARSALS
MON/WED/FRIDAY | 6:30PM-9:15PM
The 2025 FIU Marching Band rehearses every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30 PM to 9:15 PM. These rehearsals focus on music, drill, visuals, and ensemble coordination. Attendance is required, and members are expected to arrive prepared and on time to ensure efficient and productive rehearsals throughout the season.

Audition #1 – In-Person and Video Submission Option
The first audition for the 2025 FIU Drumline will take place in person and serves as the initial evaluation for all prospective members. For those unable to attend, video auditions will be accepted and must be submitted by 11:59 PM on July 26th. All participants—whether in person or by video—will be evaluated on clarity, control, consistency, and musical interpretation.
